We usually think that human’s creations are destroying our environment and our planet. This is mostly true, but some walls prove us that it’s not always the case. A Spanish corporate - Ceracasa - specialized in ceramic materials, has created a new product – Bionictile - which is able to stuck the pollution out of the air. According to Ceracasa, “200 buildings per year [with Bionictile on their walls] would decontaminate a volume equivalent to 2 638 million m3 of air”, “the equivalent of more than 400 000 people breathing air free of harmful NOx for one year”. Even if that statement is a little bit weird – 200 buildings of what size? and what does “per year” mean? – the product has been tested by the accredited Environmental Studies Centre of the Mediterranean (CEAM Foundation) and its effects against NOx have been proved: it improves the air quality. This product can be associate to another Ceracasa product (created with the architect Emilio Llobat and Azahar Energy) – Lifewall – a vertical modular garden. Both products are modular – as You can see on the picture – Bionictile destroying most of the NOx and Lifewall is creating oxygen.
“5 sqm of 49.1 x98,2 cm BIONICTILE® was placed in a sealed chamber (EUPHORE)
and monitored by highly sensitive instruments for measuring air components. During 4
days it had reproduced an atmosphere with the changes in NOx pollution that can be
found on a city street with traffic.”
