If I ask You “what would be the technology’s empire?”, what would You respond? Emperor Palpatine’s empire? The USA? Napoleon’s empire? Well those three responds are right, but I have something else in mind: Russia – or a part of the now dead CCCP. I agree, Czar’s Russia was well known for its middle age society and its lack of modern technologies and infrastructures. I also often read that CCCP – which is not only Russia, this is important, people often forget that important fact – has stolen or imitated Western innovations and technologies. Even if those 2 arguments are partially true – not entirely though – Russia has been source of wonderful technological creations. Among them, We can think about those numerous aircrafts and helicopters, but also Spacecrafts and launchers that have made CCCP the first empire – and “country” – to send someone out there into Space. On the aviation side, I recommend You to take a look to that amazing English-Russia’s post. I have studied several times the spacial conquest – or the “space race” – which has opposed CCCP to the US during many years, and what Russia has accomplished during that “war” is simply stunning. Then again, German’s V2 has been the root of both sides technologies – and not only in the Russian’s side. CCCP has also developed huge nuclear facilities and technologies – those facilities which are now dangerous – and numerous very advanced technologies – mostly linked to military equipments and capabilities. The US have for instance feared for years CCCP’s MIGs or submarines – even through the 90s, with the Kursk for instance. When We take a look to Russia’s past cars, planes, trains, … it make us think about the US, but also to every Western countries, but We have to keep something very important in mind: CCCP has been created in the 20s, on the basis of a Czar’s under-developed country (Russia) , with numerous additional new members through the years – more than 10 republics after the WWII – which were very poor and under-developed. This Technology’s Empire emerged after only few years of existence from almost nowhere.
