We went to a Motorola press event Tuesday, where the company presented us the Defy, a super resistant smartphone (Gorilla glass, water proof (at a limit of 1 m), ..). So We were quite curious about this phone, cause it is a pretty good looking device too. We have been able to play with it during a few minutes, We didn’t take pictures of that but I’ll sum up: this smartphone looks nice, it feels solid (no surprise), even if it’s a little bit glossy, and moreover We liked its size and its physical buttons. However, it is only running Android 2.1! It is a shame to launch a smartphone with 2.1 when Gingerbread is about to show up! It is also featuring Blur, You like it or not… And it has very standard specs : size: 4.21 x 2.32 x 0.53, 3.7 inch capacitive display, with a 480 x 854 pixels resolution, 1540 mAh battery, processor: TI OMAP 3610 800 MHz, memory: 512 MB RAM, camera: 5 megapixels with a flash, Accelerometer, Compass, microUSB, built-in memory: 2048 MB with an SD slot, A-GPS, … Those specs are actually pretty good, especially for the price of that device: 349 € without contract! The built quality of that phone looks quite cheap, but it doesn’t bother me. Regarding its resistance, Motorola’s representatives were a little bit afraid to get violent with there phones. But it is featuring a Gorilla glass, which makes its screen super resistant, and it is not afraid to go in the desert or to a party (with You of course). And We saw a Motorola PR dropping his phone into a jacuzzi, it was still working after that. Nice!
