Here in France, We have a lot of taxes. A lot. For instance, there is a tax for mobile subscriptions which include TV programs. Today most of web mobile subscriptions are including TV abilities.
Few months ago, the French government decided to increase this tax. After that, two of the three major French careers decided to increase the price of the subscriptions which were offering TV programs – it is clear to me that most of customers don’t even use that functionality, anyway…. This evolution gave customers the right to cancel, for free, their subscriptions. Of course, it was a huge mistake… thousand and thousand of customers left their careers – mostly to get new phones. Well we could say it was good news for customers… But everybody knows that careers are sneaky. One day (the 7th March), in front of that terrible situation, careers decided to cancel their decision. Some people – like myself for instance – were cancelling that day their subscription and got scammed …. Now, my career is asking me 320€! Because SFR and Orange decided to cancel their initial announcement, without any immediate notice. I of course won’t let them win that way. I sent my letter regarding my cancellation and subscribed to another career’s offer few hours before their last decision and only received an e-mail of notice two days later.
That is the story of how customers fucked careers playing their rules and how careers always try to win.
