GPS is getting more and more popular: drivers are crazy about the technology and moreover smartphones are all featuring GPS now. GPS is now extremely important, more than ever before. So this is quite incredible to learn that the network is in danger because of the lack of satellites – they’re also getting old – but also because if new networks: 4G for instance. This new network could, according to the FAA, create interferences that may lead to “complete loss” of GPS reception. The report doesn’t add anything else, the industry will need to lead some further studies to establish what are the real risks regarding the future 4G network. But the risks are real and the authorities will have to do something, at least regarding the GPS network’s lack of sattelites.
